TP-Link AV2000 Powerline Adapters

Do you know what Powerline adapters are and how useful they can be when you can't wire for ethernet cable or have bad Wifi Reception somewhere in your house?

Powerline adapters are pretty easy to set up and pretty cool technology. They use your existing outlets and turn the electrical wiring into network cables for a computer network. You need a pair to start, plug one into the wall and connect to your router and then plug the other in where you need ethernet connection. That's it, quite awesome.

I had a pair of Zyxel Powerline adapters that I got in 2014 and recently stopped working. I ended up replacing them with the TP-Link AV2000. In theory they can reach up t 2000mbps but in real life there are way too many factors that will prevent form achieving those speeds. Needless to say, you will still achieve faster speeds than WiFi.

The TP-Link AV2000 or model number TL-PA9020P KIT and TL-PA9020 KIT is equipped with a passthrough so that you don't lose an outlet. They are rather large so they do obstruct the outlet above or below it. They need to be plugged in directly to the wall or optimal usage not a surge protector. I connected the one that goes to the router straight to the wall and the other one using a 6" extension. Works just fine.

I made a video to show you the difference between the WiFi speed and the connected ethernet speeds, check it out below or on youtube.
